
The church of Saint Ildefonso in Porto, or also known as Igreja de Santo Ildefonso is one of the most touristic attractions in Porto. It´s recognized by its structure, specially the two bell towers on the sides. The blue and white tales on the walls of the church makes the Church of Saint Ildefonso an impressive monument to visit.

- Tuesdays to Saturday: From 09:00AM to 12:00PM and from 15:00PM to 18:30PM

It´s located at Praça da Batalha, 4000-101 Porto Portugal which is almost in the centre of the city, it has an easy access.
Igreja of Saint Ildefonso history

Before the famous church of Saint Ildefonso of Porto there was a small church called Santo Alifon righ at the same place. In 1709 this one was knock down due to its bad conditions. Saint Ildefonso church was the one who started being built in that year, and it took about 30 years to finish it. In 1730 the main body was built and in the 1739 the construction with the two tower bells was done.
The original designer of the church was Nicolau Nasoni and it was built by Miguel Francisco Da Silva.
Best time to visit it
Although the church does not get really crowded, due it´s location you may be able to see crowds around, so if your interest is to get the best photo from the church (as it´s one of the most photogenic spots in Porto) we recommend you to visit it early in the morning, and if you want to go inside as soon as it opens!
